The individual who owns this number reached out to me. I was under the impression that it could be a firm associated with my spouse due to the nature of the inquiries. Each time a question was posed by the caller, I responded without incorporating the term “yes”. Exercise caution when responding to queries that can be answered with a “yes”, as fraudsters can exploit this single affirmation for their illicit activities. Following a series of inquiries, the caller expressed doubt about having dialed the right number. She then proceeded to verify if the number she had reached (which was my number) was indeed the correct one on her list. I responded simply with ‘the number belongs to me’, once again avoiding the use of the word ‘yes’.
