I make a point of never answering calls that I do not know if I am not expecting a call. If I do answer by mistake I wait for the caller to speak first, if I hear noise in the background (like telemarketing) or the caller has a strange accent I immediately cut that call and block the number.
Lately I have been receiving calls from this caller with 020 4638 followed by 1864, 3251,4212, 3825,3831.. is a big scammer. I have not answered this caller, but I looked it up to find out that they are indeed trying to scam people by trying to get into people's bank account numbers, especially this time of the year.
I suggest that you do not answer calls that you are not expecting, and block them straight away, and if you do answer wait for the caller to talk first and if you hear it is suspicious cut them off and block the number. Obviously they target the people who do answer their calls, so they keep on trying. Stay sharp, do not believe something that is too good to be true. Amazon will never phone you about your account, your bank will never phone you unless you call them. Your gas or electric company will never phone you. Be very alert, many people out there have been heavily scammed and it is a horrifying thing to lose your money to these scammers!!
